The Blueprint will be utilized by a set of sub-grant recipients to pilot WIC online ordering projects, but also be available to any SA working on their own projects. The Blueprint also includes WIC rules and regulations that may impact WIC online ordering projects as well as basic requirements for implementing these projects. The Blueprint consists of recommendations for WIC State agencies (SAs) and their partners to consider when implementing a WIC online ordering project. First, GSCN constructed a WIC online ordering implementation guide, ( the Blueprint for WIC Online Ordering, or “the Blueprint”) based on WIC stakeholder feedback and consensus building. The overarching goal of this project is to work toward establishing recommendations for the implementation of processes that allow WIC participants to use online ordering with online transactions or in-person transactions to receive their WIC food benefits. Gretchen Swanson Center for Nutrition (GSCN) and their partners will do the work necessary to move toward broad availability of online ordering in WIC, as well as work to prepare for when online transactions become allowable in WIC. Online shopping has the potential to enhance the WIC shopping experience for participants in many ways, including the added benefit of providing access to those with limited transportation or other issues impeding the participant’s ability to go to a grocery store. What is the goal of the WIC Online Ordering Grant?
